The number of passengers traveling by domestic and international flights on American Airlines and United Airlines has increased significantly over the past year.
According to new data from Airports Council International, domestic and internationally flights on both airlines rose by 6.3 percent and 2.3 million in the third quarter of this year, respectively.
The data also shows that domestic and International carriers increased the number of international flights in the fourth quarter by 2.6 percent and 4.7 million.
The data also show that international and domestic carriers added 5.1 million and 3.7 percent, respectively, in the same period.
The average domestic and foreign domestic passengers on American, United and Delta Air Lines rose by 5.5 percent and 7.6 million in their third quarter.
The airline industry has seen a surge in growth this year as more passengers are flying for the first time.
The new data also comes as American Airlines is preparing for the arrival of a fleet of new Airbus A380 aircraft and its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
In February, Delta Air Line reported that the company was adding 20 planes each for the next two years.
The airlines also recently announced that they would soon be adding more Boeing 757 aircraft.
