SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco linebacker Joe Stretton has been traded to the Denver Broncos, the team announced Wednesday.
Stretton, 25, was traded to Denver from the San Francisco Giants on March 15, 2016, along with a 2018 seventh-round pick.
Streton was signed to a two-year contract extension with San Francisco in February, but the deal was not finalized when he joined the 49ers.
Streton recorded nine tackles, including a team-leading nine sacks in 2016.
He also recorded nine pass breakups, six interceptions and a forced fumble in 2016 and had two forced fumbles last season.
Statton will replace former 49ers linebacker K.J. Wright in the starting lineup, according to the team.
